I don't usually review things, but this lamp is exceptional!! I researched and searched high and low for replacements for the cheap torchiere floor lamp, you know the one, with the plastic shade that MELTS when the bulbs get too hot or the lamp stays on too long. And after a while, the base starts to crumble into a cement-like substance?? The old lamp probably cost between $20 and $40 a piece. Well, we had limped along with those old lamps for far too long. This Adesso Expo floor lamp is a fantastic replacement!! The mismatched college furniture is at the curb, including those fire hazard lamps, and replaced with sturdy, sleek, HEAVY DUTY floor lamps. Assembly was quick and easy. Take your time when twisting the sections together. If you meet resistance, STOP and start again. When kept on track, the pieces fit together seamlessly! The glass shades are frosted, but give off plenty of light. We went with 100 watt LED bulbs for now, and they give off plenty of light. I bought the dimmer suggested with this lamp, but haven't decided if we will really use it enough to need it. Besides, this new lamp has a dime and bright setting by turning the switch. The last thing I didn't think of, but am happy about is the switch placement. Some mid-priced lamps have the on/off switch up at the base of the glass. Since our lamps are tucked back behind end tables, that would've been a pain to have to climb on furniture to reach the switch. Overall, I was really hesitant to spend this much on each lamp, but am so SOOO glad that I pulled the trigger!!! We will have these for quite a few years to come.
